Dim Sum Afternoon Tea at the Millennium Hotel

Dim Sum Afternoon Tea

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend Dim Sum Afternoon Tea at the Millennium Hotel in Knightsbridge to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Traditional Afternoon Tea has been having a huge renaissance for a few years. Every eatry from a local cafe to a five star hotel is offering it. On the other hand Dim Sum is also very popular and allows the customer to sample a lot of different dishes without breaking the bank. Dim Sum Afternoon Tea was the brainwave of the head chef at the Millennium who thought that a Chinese take of the meal would be greatly received.

We were greeted with a champagne reception in the lobby of the hotel restaurant and bar, Le Chinois before being given a mini introduction by the staff. Then it was time to sit down and eat. We started off with Oloong and Jasmine Tea and then we were treated to a magnificent feast of crispy chicken stick, crispy shredded duck spring rolls, sauteed prawns coated with wasabi, minced chicken wrapped in lettuce and crispy scallop rolls.

This was followed by BBQ pork bun (Chai Siu Boa), red bean and pandan mochi cake, fresh sliced mango, prawns with passion fruit colis (dip fried), steamed minced pork dumplings (Siu Mai) and traditional peking duck. The dishes were served on a three tiered platter which looked very impressive.

Needless to say the food was delicious and very filling but the display was very pictureque. In fact we, being typical bloggers that we are, spent just as much time taking pictures of the food as we did eating it. Not a good look if you are dining out with a very hungry person LOL. If you love your Dim Sum and fancy a more exotic Afternoon Tea then this will be perfect for you.
